There’s something powerful about surrounding yourself with mentors and friends—people who are putting in the work, covering the miles. They’ll be there to lift you up when you’ve pushed too far, when you’re struggling to meet your goals, or when you’ve lost touch with what the universe is trying to teach you. I’ve had to learn some hard lessons recently—lessons about slowing down. Missing almost a month of work and hiking, and even canceling my plans to hike 130 miles on the Colorado Trail, has been a challenge. But in that, I’ve learned to truly listen to myself and respect my body. I’ve realized that pushing through isn’t always the answer. I want to hike, backpack, and coach. But to do those things well, I have to pay attention to my needs. When we don’t, the universe has a way of teaching us the same lessons again and again.
My mentor reminded me to slow down and ask, "Where am I? What do I need right now?" It’s a simple yet profound question that’s helping me realign with what matters most. Everything I need is within me—this truth keeps me grounded, mindful, and aware, even when things feel tough. Hiking teaches me this, every single time I step onto the trail. Nature pushes me beyond my fears, beyond the limits I thought I had, but it also shows me that growth isn’t just about pushing forward. It’s about being open to the lessons around us and within us.
Decluttering your mind is part of this journey. It’s not just about clearing away past traumas, criticism, or societal expectations—it’s also about how we treat ourselves. When we clear the internal clutter, we make space for our true values and priorities to shine. The first step?Define what's important to you. In my coaching seeions with you, you will be asked to define your values and priorities, once you do, you’ll find the path forward becomes much clearer. 🌿
